A Dark Monday for Heller Ehrman

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Heller Ehrman LLP seems to be in its proverbial 11th hour. The firm’s merger talks with Mayer Brown, have broken down, according to a statement from Mayer Brown.

  • Sept. 4, 2008 - Document Technologies, Inc. has been awarded a 2-year contract for Litigation Support & Document Management Services by the City of San Diego in a competitive bid process.  Strong references and the ability to meet the service needs have been cited as determining factors.

    DTI representative Mike Rodriguez headed the effort to secure the bid.

    September 12, 2008 - The San Diego Superior Court has awarded the City of San Diego over $4 million in attorney’s fees as a result of prevailing in the remaining claim filed by South Bay developer Roque De La Fuente II, Border Business Park vs. City of San Diego, which was dismissed last June. A Superior Court Judge ruled today that the City is entitled to recover its entire attorney’s fees, an award of $4,365,869.93.

  • Earlier this summer, Lerach was placed in administrative segregation — locked down for 23 hours a day — after he allegedly offered a corrections officer the use of his San Diego Chargers season tickets, say three people familiar with the situation. Should a formal administrative proceeding go against him, Lerach would likely be forbidden from returning to the camp, and would instead be placed in a higher-security facility.
