Sept. 4, 2008 - Document Technologies, Inc. has been awarded a 2-year contract for Litigation Support & Document Management Services by the City of San Diego in a competitive bid process.  Strong references and the ability to meet the service needs have been cited as determining factors.

DTI representative Mike Rodriguez headed the effort to secure the bid.

Robert G. Copeland, James A. Mercer III and Michael S. Umansky have joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as partners in the firm’s Corporate practice group.  Copeland is based in the firm’s San Diego/Downtown office, and Mercer and Umansky are based in Sheppard Mullin’s San Diego/Del Mar office.  Copeland, Mercer and Umansky most recently practiced with Duane Morris LLP in San Diego.

DLA Piper today announced over $10,000 in donations of cash, school supplies and backpacks by DLA Piper’s attorneys and staff to Operation Homefront’s Backpack Brigade Back-to-School Drive. Operation Homefront’s Backpack Brigade helps provide children of active duty military with the school supplies needed to maximize their success in the upcoming school year. The effort was led by DLA Piper San Diego partners Christopher Young and Rick Storms, and associates Jennifer Feldman, Greg Morris and Jason Radford.

Aug. 3, 2008 - John Benassi, a partner in Cooley Godward Kronish’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice, died suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 2. Mr. Benassi, who joined Cooley in June of this year, was based in the Firm’s San Diego office.
